Old school Print123 passes
Jan 07, 2010 - 8:26 AM - by Rick_James
Since I couldn't find any mention here, long timer in this community passed away recently after a battle with cancer.
Print123 was laid to rest on 12/23.
I know lots here knew him.
Hand down one of the best persons I ever knew in this community.
P123 was a true gentleman, never got involved in any of the petty bickering and was always there to help those whom asked.

Godspeed Print123, I will miss you sorely.

Old and New Friends
Jan 02, 2010 - 5:20 PM - by alexd
Dss-Newbies has noticed that several long-term Sites have disappeared in the last few months. We regret that very much.

However, we wish to welcome those members to our Site, and hope that you can find your old friends and keep up your friendly correspondences. Just follow our Rules; they're probably no different from where you were before.

Again, welcome to DSS-Newbies (and our sister Site FTA-Newbies).

D*sh Junkies Closes The Doors
Dec 13, 2009 - 8:10 PM - by argonne
C/P from Fubr at cc

perfect timing, the server took a dump, no back ups to install, would be a month to be back up, so with all that said

To all my fellow members and staff and hobbist, it is sad for me to report that dishjunkie has closed it doors.
The climate and recent events like the fred ratt tapes and no sponsorships ect. has made it impossible for the admins to keep the site open.
cost to much to pay a server bill and then it takes a crap and... [Read More]

Sub Growth Slows, While Other Metrics Grow
Nov 15, 2009 - 7:40 AM - by Warlord
DirecTV's growth train showed some signs of slowing down in the third quarter, as net new subscriber additions clocked in at 136,000 in the period, slightly behind analyst estimates.

But the satellite giant well outpaced consensus estimates for revenue growth, up 9.7% to $5.5 billion. But the DBS leader missed targets for cash flow growth, ahead 7.7% to $1.34 billion. Analysts had estimated that revenue growth would be about 8.7% and operating cash flow would rise 10.7% in the... [Read More]

Dish Net Chairman Dislikes Discounts, Dividends
Nov 15, 2009 - 7:38 AM - by Warlord
Dish Network chairman and CEO Charlie Ergen said the satellite giant is trying to wean itself from heavy discounting, despite the fact that it may have been a major factor in the second-largest satellite TV service provider's third-quarter subscriber gains.

"I hate giving away programming. I hate the discounting we do today; in part it does cause you problems on the back end." Ergen said on a conference call with analysts to discuss third-quarter results.

Ergen added... [Read More]

Welcome Back, Eddy
Nov 15, 2009 - 4:53 AM - by Warlord
Well, sort of .... Eddy Hartenstein, the guy who essentially created DIRECTV and ran it until its late 2003 take-over by News Corp, is stepping up his visibility in the satellite industry. This time, he's taking on the troubled waters of SIRIUS XM as non-executive chairman, replacing Gary Parsons. Prior to the satellite radio merger, Hartenstein was board member of XM; he became a director of SIRIUS XM in the summer of 2008.

Never one to decline a challenge, Hartenstein is... [Read More]
